With a combination of skill and good luck, Flying Tiger Ace R.T. Smith comes out the winner against a Japanese "Oscar" pilot on Christmas Day, 1941. Intercepting a group of raiding Japanese bombers, Smith was able to dispatch a Ki-21 "Sally" before himself being attacked by one of the escorting fighters. The Japanese pilot attacked head-on and both fighters fired as they closed toward each other finally passing only inches apart.
