With their noise taking the unsuspecting bicyclists by surprise, two gleaming blue Corsairs roar along the Pacific coastline near Los Angeles. A familiar sight during the war years, military aircraft from the many nearby factories and airfields were often out flying on test or training hops. Like most boys of the era, these lads will spend hours talking about these new flying marvels, their pilots and combat exploits. Weekends will often find them at the perimeter fence of the nearest airfield for a closer look at the "latest" Navy or Air Corps fighter.
